seeking a wood source

I am looking for a good wood source for bending material. Probably air dried white oak, or white ash.

My bet is that if you want timber suitable for bending that has been air-dried, rather than kiln-dried, you're going to have to log, mill, and dry it yourself.

A work-around would be to buy what places like Crosscuts sells and then soak it before steaming. Another workaround would be to laminate the piece.

You can also talk to Edensaw up North.  They often have air dried timber in both CVG Fir and Eastern White Oak and occasionally others.  Know the minimum dimensions that you need and then be prepared for sticker shock.  It's often expensive.  Great people and material, though.  Good Luck!

You might also try Urban Hardwood Recovery:  info@urbanhardwoodrecovery.com / 503.887.0855  He often has air dried planks, just ask.

Kilmer Wood is another option but they usually are catering to instrument makers and wood turners - $$$.  Depends upon how much you need.
