As a resource for them wanting to build "a pond boat" in my style of doing it, I'm posting some photos from past builds that illustrate its key components, which is dory-style with a fillet chine and radial framing.
It's far from being the only way to build, but the method can produce a hull ready to finish at roughly 5 pounds (depending on scantlings), $15, and 10 hours per foot.
E.g., an 8', oiled and varnished hull, framed in cedar, comes in under 40 pounds at an all-in materials cost of around $120. Framing with walnut (as pictured in the last photo) adds 10 pounds and $20 bucks. The oars (if made) would add another $10. (If bought, upwards of $50.) So, $150 bucks and a couple weeks of work builds a user-ready boat that is sweet to use on the water and never fails to attract admiring comment.
